Dear  Families,

This year, you and I become partners in one of the most important jobs we have—helping your child succeed in 5th Grade.  This is my 7th year teaching at Alloway. I have taught 5th grade for 2 years here at Alloway, as well as teaching kindergarten here for 5 years.  I have previously taught 4th grade for 4 years at Myron L. Powell.  I am extremely excited for new school year. Many of your children have already had me as their kindergarten teacher.

I will set high expectations for my classroom this year, as well as with every year.  My goal is to expect the best from every child and myself with a positive, comfortable, and fun environment.  Your child’s education and well-being are extremely important to me, as I know they are to you. Working as a team gives your child the best opportunity to excel.  I would like for you to always feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, and ideas. Please check my website frequently for updates on special events and for homework.  I would like to make my pledge to you and your child this year!

  • I promise to treat your child like they were my own.

  • I promise to prepare exciting and engaging lessons each day to challenge them as well as push them to excel as high as they can.

  • I promise to e-mail, call, or write whenever I feel your child needs a little extra help with responsibility, bringing the things they need to be prepared, working harder, completing classwork or homework on time, or getting along with others.

  • I promise to make this year an exciting and fun one for your child. I hope to make the learning environment filled with excitement, laughter, and a cool place to be!

I hope that you will work with me by asking your child questions at home and helping your child correct mistakes you may see come home.  I am always here to help or answer questions.  Please remember that children learn what they live.  When your child sees his or her life surrounded by caring and attentive parents and school staff, he or she will surely join with us to help make this a great school year. I am looking forward to being back in 5th grade!

                                                                                       Sincerely,

                                                                                        Ms. Leyman
