Mr Boehm, Mrs Neocleous
6th Grade Math

Welcome to your 6th Grade Math class!  Now that the summer is over, I hope you are excited to continue learning and that you bring as much enthusiasm, with you each day, as I will.  This year we will talk about many different math topics.  For each topic, try to always be making connections to the knowledge you already have, and when in doubt, ASK QUESTIONS!!

How much homework will I get?

Homework for this class is usually given four nights a week.  Each homework assignment is due the following day.  Homework can be very important to your grades.  For some it can make the difference between an acceptable grade and a very poor or failing grade.  You must do your homework EVERYDAY it is assigned!!!!

How do you get my marking period grade?

Your marking period grade is made up of five parts.

Homework                              =   5%  *

Tests                                        =   40%

Quizzes                                   =   25%

Mathematical Practices           =   15%

End of Quarter Assessment   =   +15%  *

                                                      100%

What will we be doing in class to get a grade?

You will be graded on all of your assignments in some way.  You will be asked to complete homework assignments, participate in class discussions, participate fully while working in groups and complete any and all projects and tests to the utmost of your abilities.  It is also imperative you complete your work on time.

What do I need everyday for class?

You need several things everyday for class.  First, you need your textbook.  You also have been given access to a digital textbook.  Second, you need your notebook for your homework and class notes.  We strongly suggest using a binder or notebook with pockets so you can keep any sheets we give you in your notebook.  Third, you will need a pencil.  Please do not use pens for math in our class.  Fourth, bring your chromebook everyday.  Finally, you need an open mind and willingness to try.
