Dear 5H Students,

My name is Mr. Hirsch and I will be your Homeroom and Fifth Grade Math teacher this year. I am looking forward to teaching all of you and watching you grow as independent learners.

I have had a very busy summer getting ready to be your teacher. I have been able to have fun too. I dropped my son AJ off at Penn State for the third year, sat on the beach and got some vitamin D at Sea Isle City, spent a week in Florida, and played golf with my friends. I hope you had time to have a bunch of fun and enjoyed the time off from school.

During this year you will be learning about many different and fascinating topics. This is an important year for you in your education journey. Expectations will be higher than you have had in earlier grades. One thing I know is that all of you are all stars and are up to the challenge of fifth grade. It might get a little tough this year, but remember you will have your classmates and myself to help you throughout the year. The first day of school is September 7th. Don’t worry about bringing school supplies with you this year. All you need with you is a snack, something to drink, and a backpack. The supplies you will need are going to be provided by school.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. I can’t wait to see all of you on the first day of school. We are going to have a great year filled with learning, laughter, and lots of fun. See you soon.

Your Teacher,

Mr. Hirsch
