Little Dresses for Africa
Founded in 2008 by Rachel O’Neill, Little Dresses For Africa is a registered non-profit 501c3 organization. The mission is to provide relief to vulnerable children throughout the Continent of Africa and beyond. Volunteers from all over the world join together to make little dresses out of pillowcases or other simple patterns. Some sew. Some donate. Some go to Africa, and some send others. Little Dresses for Africa sends the donated dresses through mission teams, mails them directly to verified communities and takes them personally with their short term teams. Your donations are distributed through orphanages, churches, and schools.
Our team at Union Avenue Middle School is in need of the following items:
- 1/4" elastic tape
- 1/2" double-bias tape
- Pillowcases
- Straight pins
- Embellishments (ribbons, bows, decorative buttons, notions)
Large Art Project
A list of character traits that we focus on each month:
September - Respect
October - Responsibility
November - Empathy
December - Compassion
January - Attitude
February - Motivation
March - Accountability
April - Persistence
May - Trustworthiness
June - Integrity
The Large Art Project took each monthly characteristic and created an original piece of art depicting that trait in a large art format. The works were on display in the Library Media Center through June 2019. Please enjoy the virtual exhibit.
