Mission & Vision

  1. When trying to create a balanced and physically fit school district, it is important to give each student an opportunity to develop into someone who is physically fit.
  2.  The student must be provided with a variety of activites that are student centered and leave the student with a positive experience so they can continue to learn and develop the skills to master these activites.
  3. To create a student who is physically fit, they must not only be provided with a positive experience, but also know the benefits from the involvement in physical education and it's contribution to a healthy lifestyle.

Health and Physical Education

  •   I will be teaching a K-5 comprehensive sequentially planned Physical Education program aligned with the NJ Physical Education state standards
  • This program is designed to promote each student's physical, mental, emotional, and social development. They are student centered and use multiple learning theories to support and promote health enhancing behaviors. These programs provide cognitive content and learning experiences that support a variety of physical activity in areas that include basic movement skills; team, dual, and individual sports; physical fitness; rhythm and dance; and life time recreational activities. These activities are linked to health concepts and skills, such as healthy eating, safety, and stress management.
  • My focus will be to teach students to use different locomotor movements (walking, running, hopping, skipping, jumping, leaping, galloping, sliding) safely through an environment. Students will also have the opportunity to use a variety of non-locomotor movements (bending, twisting, turning, rocking, stretching, pushing, pulling) in almost every class.
  • Students will go through a warm up that involves both static and dynamic stretches that will allow them to explore these non-locomotor movements. Students will also identify and develop different manipulative skills (rolling, throwing, catching, bouncing, kicking) through self-practice and games.
  • Units will include psychomotor, cognitive, and affective objectives that will help students develop social skills, while learning and participating in fitness and movement activities.
