What are we learning in First Grade?

Fundations: Unit 1: Reviewing our letter formation and letter sounds, as well as putting                    the letters in order of the alphabet!

Reading: Setting up the Reader's Workshop

               - Learning our routines and daily procedures

               - Discussing our expectations and guidelines as a community of readers. 

               - Learning about which genres and topics we love to read the most!   

 

Writing: Setting up the Writer's Workshop 

               - Learning our routines and daily procedures

               - Discussing our expectations as a community of writers. 

               - Exploring materials and resources we have as writers! 

               - Learning about all the different forms of writing; letters, books, notes,                  cartoons, etc. 

 

Social Studies: Welcome to First Grade 

               - Building our classroom community, creating our class norms. 

               - School Safety; Fire Drills, Bathroom Expectations, Playground Safety

                                      

 

Math: Setting Up the Math Workshop 

             - Learning our routines and daily procedures

             - Discussing our expectations as a community of problem solvers. 

             - Accountable Talk; how do we share our thinking respectfully
