About Our Class:
Please make sure that your child comes to school everyday with his or her bookbag and homework folder.
Birthdays- If you would like to celebrate your child's birthday in our classroom by sending in a birthday treat, please reach out to me on Dojo! We would love to celebrate your child's birthday! We do have a pecan allergy.
Communication- We use the app Class Dojo. Please sign up for Class Dojo. If you need the information to sign up for Class Dojo, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Homework-I do not assign daily homework. I do encourage your child to read everyday for at least 15 minutes each day! You can make this something you do as a family! Your child will come home once a week with a guided reading folder. When the folder comes home with them, please have your child read the book to you. From time to time, your child may come home with extra practice in phonics or math as well as fun at-home projects. I understand that after school schedules can be very busy. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
Lunch and Snack- Lunch is at 11:30. Students can pack lunch or buy lunch from the school cafeteria. We have a snack at the end of the day because most students are pretty hungry by then! Please send in a snack approximately once per month to share. Please DO NOT SEND ANYTHING WITH PECANS. We have a pecan allergy in our classroom! Thank you for your support!
Notes-Please place all notes and signed papers in your child's homework folder and let your child know that there's a note to give me in the morning. Also, if you would like, you can message me in the Dojo app telling me to expect a note from your child.
Sweaters/Sweatshirts- Please send in a sweater or sweatshirt that your child can keep in their cubby in case they get cold in class. Please label the sweatshirt or sweater with your child's first and last name.
Testing- We will have Math and Phonics tests at the end of each unit. At the beginning, middle, and end of the year, we will have STAR tests in Reading and Math. We will also assess your child's Reading Level, Writing, and Sight Words several times a year.
Water Bottles-Students may have water bottles in class. Please send in a leak-proof bottle with your child's name on it. They can either keep this in the classroom or refresh it daily. Please only send water.
