Grading Policy- Ms. Sickler

You will receive a daily grade based on your work in class. This grade will be averaged for the week and posted in the grade book with your class work. Your grade will be based on the following scale:

4 points = A (Works well entire period/Prepared)

3 points = B (Works well most of the period/Prepared)

2 points = C (Works part of the period/Unprepared)

1 points = D (Does not make good use of class time/Unprepared/Late 45 minutes or more)

0 points = F (Absent /No Work Done)

 

All assignments and projects will be graded on the day they are due. Students must turn in a “Missing Work Log” in lieu of a missing assignment. 10% of points will be deducted for each day an assignment is late. Parents will be contacted on major assignments or when missing work exceeds three assignments. Late work will be graded down one grade for each additional week.  No work will be accepted after the end of a unit.

 

A zero for class work due to absence cannot be changed; therefore, it is very important not to be absent from school. If your work is late due to an Excused absence, you will be allowed one additional day for each day you were absent. Work should be made up within one day for each class day missed. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to follow the syllabus/check OnCourse & Blendspace make up what you have missed.  It will be your responsibility to make up this work on your own time by the due date given you – not during class.  Keep track of your attendance.  Nine (9) or more unexcused absences for a semester course or eighteen (18) for a full year course will result in a grade of NO CREDIT. 

 

All students will have a binder to hold worksheets, handouts, and graded and returned assignments.  Your notes should also be added to this binder. It is important to take good notes since it will be a great tool to help in reviewing for tests.  If you take good notes, you will have good grades.

 

Your grade book and assignments are available on the school website.  You will be given your password – use this to keep up with your grades.  If you see that your average is falling, you should either come and talk to me if there is a problem or make a greater effort to participate in class.  This is your education – get involved!

Your grade for each marking period will be computed as follows: 

Class Work = 30%

Formative Tests/Quizzes/Writing = 30%

Performance Tasks/Projects = 30%

Homework = 10%
