Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to 2nd Grade!  My name is Mrs. Pisetzner and I will be your second grade teacher this year.

Many wonderful opportunities and experiences are ahead of us.  You will get to discuss and create projects about communities, landforms, animal habitats, and good citizenship. We will practice mindfulness, computer skills, and so much more!

Here are some fun facts about Mrs. Pisetzner:

I love art,  animals & nature, music, dancing, hiking, cooking, baking and learning sign language.  Roller coasters thrill me, but I also enjoy quietly dappling in watercolors.  I like to spend my free time playing with my adopted dog, 'Hershey' or dreaming & creating things.

What are some of your favorite things?

Take a mindful moment to think of your favorite things, so we may learn about you, too.

Your first assignment:

Use a 8.5 X 11 piece of paper to post pictures, drawings, and words that describe you and the activities you enjoy.  You will get to talk about your mini-poster to the class, so you should practice what you want to say.  Also, it is perfectly appropriate to have a parent help you with this project. The important thing is that we get to learn about WONDERFUL YOU!

See Mrs. P's 8.5x11 mini-poster sample & upload your project here

Supplies: You do NOT need to purchase any supplies. We have taken care of everything for you here at Stony Brook.

**I have your pencils, pencil box, folders, crayons, colored pencils, markers and all of your supplies in your new classroom. (Each student will have their own materials.)

(Please do not bring extra stuff that can distract you from listening and learning.)

On the first day and as a daily routine:

Plan your lunch: buying or bagging?

Bring a simple snack that you can open independently.

Bring a towel to use for outside seating during snack time.

Bring a clean water bottle you can open and close yourself.

Keep extra masks in your back pack to have on hand.

I am looking forward to get to know you and it will be wonderful having your help in creating a respectful and joyful classroom of friends.

See you soon!

Sincerely yours,

Mrs. Pisetzner
