Dear 5C Fifth Graders, 

 

     Welcome to fifth grade! My name is Mr. Close and I will be your homeroom teacher this year.  I hope you are having an enjoyable and relaxing summer and are beginning to think about preparing for another great year of learning at Stony Brook.   

 

     For those of you who don't know me, I've been a teacher here at Stony Brook since 2003.    I have been lucky enough to have been teaching fifth grade all that time!  As you’re probably aware, you will work with a number of teachers this year for your academic subjects. Mrs. Havens, Mrs. Jimenez, and Mr. HIrsch are the other 5th-grade homeroom teachers.  During our first days together, we will talk more about your schedules, and clear up any questions you may have.  

  

     This year, I do not have a supply list for you.  Stony Brook will provide you with all of the supplies you'll need.  Of course, if you have some favorite school supplies at home that you would like to use, you're welcome to!  

 

  Our school year begins on Thursday, September 7th.  I  look forward to meeting you on our first day!  Enjoy the rest of your summer!  I can't wait to get started!
