Welcome Letter 2022

Dear Grade 2 Families,

Welcome to 2nd grade and the start of what is sure to be an exciting year of learning and growing together. I am looking forward to meeting you and working with each of you as our year kicks off on September 6th. Hopewell Elementary School is a special place, and I am excited to spend this year with you!

We will use the first days and weeks of school creating connections and building our sense of community. Additional information about our schedule and class routines will be provided on the first day of school. You'll see this come home in paper form in your child's backpack. Another great way to access our classroom is through my Twitter page @KymHarjes. Again, more information about my use of Twitter will be included in the first-day-of-school letter.

For now, here is a list of items I'd like you to prepare and have ready for Day 1:

What to Bring on the First Day of School

● A backpack

● Headphones

● A healthy snack for the classroom (peanut/nut free) *lunches from home need not be nut free

● A water bottle with your child’s name clearly labeled on it

● Any notes related to dismissal changes for the first day of school

All other supplies will be provided in our classroom. These will include individually filled pencil cases, folders, notebooks, a homework folder and more. As we prepare for September 6th, be sure to enjoy these last days and weeks of summer and know that I'm eager to meet and work with each of you.

Welcome to 2HV!

Most sincerely,

Mrs. Harjes-Velez
