September, 2020

Dear Parents,

I want to welcome you and your child to 1-F. I hope your family has found some ways to enjoy the magic of summer, despite these trying times. First grade is a wonderful year of growth and achievement, and I am looking forward to sharing this year with you and your family.

My name is Julie Fanella. This is my twenty first year in the district. I have previously taught second grade, first grade, and TIP at Hopewell Elementary. I have a degree in English from Moravian College, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education Language and Literacy from TCNJ. Teaching children to read is my passion. When I am not teaching, I enjoy being with my two daughters, who are nine and four.

During the first few days of school, I would like your child to be ready to share something that made this summer special. It could be an interesting place you visited or something fun that you did with your family or friends. They may prepare to share one object, photo or postcard that represents their special place or activity. We will spend some time getting to know each other, and sharing our summer adventures.

An important part of making sure that your child has a successful school year will be for us to communicate with one another. Please feel free to contact me through email with any questions or concerns that you may have. I am still being set up at Toll Gate, so I am not sure of my phone extension at this time, but I will share it as soon as it is made available to me. Wishing you a wonderful end of the summer. I look forward to getting to know your child this school year.

Warmly,

Julie Fanella
