Greetings parents/guardians and students! My name is Ms. Calico, and I am a Title 1 Instructor for 2nd and 6th grade students at Hurden Looker School.  

 

Title 1 is a federally funded program that provides extra learning support in the areas of math and literacy.  If your child has been chosen to receive Title 1 services, he/she will receive extra support during small group time from the Title 1 teacher.

 

I started my 15 years at Hillside as a 2nd grade teacher, then trained to become a Reading Recovery Specialist.  For the past 4 years have been working as a Title 1 Teacher.  Prior to educating children, I educated adults as the Director of Education for a health care organization in New York City.
