**ALL Homework will be sent home on Monday and not due until Friday of that week.**

Spelling Homework

Please see the list of spelling words in your child's planner or on this website to complete the weekly homework.

Homework consists of:

Monday: 3x Each

Please make sure your child is using his or her lined paper correctly and writing in their best writing. Make sure to look at the back of the paper.

Tuesday: ABC Order/CBA Order/Rhyme Time

Please feel free to help or guide your child, especially early in the year, with this assignment. As the year progresses, this assignment should be completed independently.

Wednesday: 5 Sentences

Please write up to 5 sentences using any 5 of the spelling words. You may put more than one spelling word in a sentence to have lesser sentences...as long as they make sense. : )

Sentences should be the student's thoughts.

Thursday: Study

Each Friday, we will have a spelling test where the words will be dictated multiple times and used in a sentence. There will also be practice sentence writing at the end of the test which will start counting as a separate writing grade in January.

Math Homework

Monday through Thursday, your child will bring home a math facts worksheet. These worksheets coincide with your child's Mad Minute level. Please time your child for 90 seconds while they are completing their worksheet. If your child does not complete the worksheet within the 90 seconds, please make a note as to where they stopped and allow them to finish the worksheet untimed. Make a note as to how long it took your child to finish the worksheet. Timing your child will help your child become more comfortable in class when we take our 90 second Mad Minute each Friday. If you see your child stuck on a level for more than two weeks, additional practice and study is needed. Please review with flash cards, verbally, or with homemade quizzes. I would be more than willing to provide you with additional worksheets for practice upon request.

Skill Book

Two to three times a week, we will have Skill Book as part of our homework.  The skill book assignments are glued into a marble composition book and should only take a few minutes to complete. Most pages require a written response, but there are some that require discussion and review with a parent. When these pages are completed, please sign them to ensure your child's understanding.

Reading Logs

Each week, your child will bring home a reading log. Your child is require to read for 40 min. per week for a full week or 30 min for a 4 day week.  Please make sure the reading logs are returned each Friday.

Fluency Folder

Please practice the top sheet in your child's Fluency Folder each night. Make note of the time it takes your child to read the page.  Strive to have your child practice enough during the week so that on Friday, they will be able to read the page in a minute's time with a teacher.  The Fluency Folder progresses from sight words and phrases to stories with comprehension questions.

*** All homework assignments are subject to change due to days off and different schedules.  Please see your child's planner for the most current assignment. **
