Course Description:
This course is designed to teach the knowledge in technical and procedural aspects of basic phlebotomy, including collection of blood specimens and venipuncture required to become a Phlebotomy Technician. This class includes theory and hands on instruction. At the conclusion of this course, if students have successfully completed all required components, they will be able to sit for the certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association. This class is designed for students who are interested in a career in the medical field to become a phlebotomy technician.
Grading Scale:
100-90 =A
89=80 = B
79-70 = C
69-60 = D
59 and below = F
Requirements:
*Students must have completed Medical Terminology with a minimum of a C.
*Students must be a Senior
*Complete 30 successful venipuncture on live patients
* Complete 10 capillary sticks
*Students must maintain a minimum of a C average every marking period
in order to sit for the NHA National Healthcareer Cartification Exam
