Dear parents and guardians,
In library class, students will be learning information literacy skills, becoming familiar with the organization and procedures of the library, and, most importantly, developing a lifelong love of reading. If your child is in second through fifth grade, he or she may be bringing home a library book each week. It is crucial that students take care of their books and return them on time (the next day they are scheduled to come to the library). Please encourage your child to read his or her book, or read it as a family!
This year in library class we will be using Class Dojo, an online behavior management system. Students will receive points for positive behavior but can have them taken away when they are off-task or not following rules. Please visit their website for more information.
Below, you will find the rules, expectations, and grading procedures for library class. Please keep in mind that only students in third through fifth grade receive a grade for library class on their report cards.

Grading Procedures in Library Students receive a grade of an E, S+, S, S-, U (from highest to lowest).

Library Rules and Expectations
1. Listen when Mrs. Barber is speaking. 2. Raise your hand and wait your turn. 3. Be kind to classmates. 4. Take care of library tools and materials. 5. Stay on task. 6. When looking for books, walk, keep hands to yourself, use shelf markers properly, make sure books are where they belong, and line up to check out quietly. 7. Return books on time and practice proper book care procedures. 8. Use computers appropriately and practice cyber ethics. 9. READ library books. 10. Ask for help when needed.
