"Any Day Above Ground is a Chance to Grow"

Hello to all Rattlers! My name is Cynthia Humphrey. This will be my sixth year teaching overall, fifth at AFS, and my first in 7th Grade ELA. I absolutely love middle school and am looking forward to the great things to come.
In my class, we primarily focus on reading and writing. Our vision for all students is to prepare them for college and career readiness. In an effort to achieve that goal, students will be continue to prove (CITE) everything they read and write. It will require great effort from students and parents but it can and will be done. Students will also learn to write using one strategy: Jane Schaffer.
In addition to reading and writing, we will also be focusing on student growth. I believe that every student has an opportunity to grow and has the capability to do so. However, in order for every student to achieve it, we all have to train our minds to that of a positive one. We sometimes tend to equate growth with failure which is not the case. In an effort to push students to grow, preparation for the LEAP test will begin during the first nine weeks with diagnostic testing and will carry on as scheduled by the district. Students will be prepped for spring testing through the use of LEAP 360. I've provided a link for LEAP prep for students and parents to access.
