2017-2018 spelling and sight words for the year

 

Spelling:  Students will have a weekly spelling test every Friday. You may study for those words any way you choose. In addition to linking the spelling words here on my site I have included a copy of the year long list in your child's binder. There will also be a monthly list on the newsletter that is sent home the first Monday of every month..

 

Sight Words:  Students will be expected to know 10-20 words every week. Our sight words tests are given Thursday and Friday every week. The sight words are also included in the same three places as spelling; Newsletter, Website and Binder. Also included in the binder is a list of K-3rd grade Dolch Sight Words. These words are not tested BUT are frequently included in fluency tests as well as books they might be reading. Being able to immediately recognize these words without sounding out will dramatically increase their reading fluency.
