Writing

The Writing Community - Students will learn the precedures for writing, hear good examples of writing pieces, and gather ideas for writing from nonfiction. 

 

Writing Skills 

Students will identify and use compound sentences and coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, so) correctly in their reading and writing. 

 

Reading Comprehension

Students will make text-to-text/text-to-self connections and explore the use of first person point of biew and third person point of view in stories. 

 

Vocabulary

Students will learn how to pronounce, spell, define, and use rich grade-level vocabulary from the reading and writing lessons (sometimes S.S./Science/Math words may be included as well)

 

Students will choose items from the "menu" to complete throughout the week for homework. Each activity is worth a certain amount of points. 20 points must be completed by Friday and turned in, and they will be tested on the words. Additional studying may be needed. 

 

Lists and menu are given to students and also posted on their Google Classroom.
