This Year's Theme for the National History Day Project is on "Conflict and Compromise"
Project Background:
The NHD project requires students to not only develop a topic and research it based on this year's NHD theme, but also be able to display their knowledge and verbally explain the significance of their project as we have a school-wide "NHD Day" in which students, staff, family members and friends come and visit our museum like exhibit. Judges will walk around the area and score the projects, and there are multiple awards that are given out to the best projects.
This NHD project will have multiple graded assignments that will be collected and included within the second and third marking period. So it is important to not wait till the last minute to complete this project. An idea for things that will be collected and graded: Thesis idea for project, works cited page, written response page, display, and total project grade.
This project can be done individually, or with a partner. We will begin with discussing this years theme for the project, and students will be required to pick their own topic, develop a thesis, research using multiple primary and secondary sources, create a display for their assignment, and show knowledge of how to properly research and source outside materials.
