Welcome to music at Jefferson and Clara Hall. My name is Amanda Goforth, and I am really excited about teaching your child music this year.
In each grade students will be building on the skills of beat, rhythm and meter, melody, harmony, instrumental technique, creating, form, expression, cutural context, listening and integrating curriculum. Each year the difficulty of the concept will get harder. We will also be doing a composer of the month. We will learn a little information about the composer, along with listening to compositions from that composer. Some of the compositions will be listening only, while others might involve some movement activities.
Each school will perform for Christmas and Black History. I am going to look into adding some more performances for the students to showcase their talents. It is very important for the students to participate in the learning process so that they can perform well.
