Academic Support
The purpose of this time is to work on Student IEP goals, remediation of math skills necesary to gain comprehension of the material, and reteaching of skills taught in class.
Due to the nature of this type of class, the material covered varies day by day and is different for each student. Therefore updates on this website are limited. However, I encourage each parent to speak with their child and if they note an area of concern to please email me, and I will be sure to cover that particular skill during our weekly sessions. I also encourage parents to click on the "Useful Learning Links" on the left side of this screen to be taken to websites that provide extra practice for the studens in math.
Study Skills
6th grade students who are enrolled in study skills are given 1 period a week to use as a work period. This time is used to support students in planning for long term projects, organization of materials, studying for tests/quizzes, working on projects, and getting additional extra help as needed. Please encourage your child to communicate with me any areas that they are falling behind in, or need assistance with so that I can best utliize this time to their advantage.
I am in constant contact with all 6th grade teachers and will adapt plans to ensure students are given an opportunity to work on assignments for each class as needed.
