Welcome to the 7th Grade Social Studies Web Page!

The focus for 7th grade Social Studies is Geography.  Geography is the study of the Earth and how people use it.  Throughout the year, we will visit and learn about the people in our world---the past, and how they live today.  It is a fast-changing world.  In the past year, new countries and new governments for countries have sprung up all over North Africa and the Middle East.  World events remind us that we live in an interconnected world.  Knowing how that world operates can help us navigate in the future.

In class, we will have assignments of notetaking, followed by a notebook quiz and test based on those notes.  We will have location quizzes to identify the countries in the areas we're studying.

Every year we do a travel agency project called Moz Inc. Students will complete a resume, undergo an interview, get "paychecks" and receive "raises" for their work in the company.  Project managers will lead a team to make a travel promotion package for a province in Canada.  The package will include a website, brochure, billboard, and commercial.

We also hold a contest as part of the nationwide, National Geographic Bee.  Congratulations to our current champion, Mackenzie Simonin!  Hannah Gaughan and Josef Hummel rounded out our top three.  The next competition is scheduled for next January.
