Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new and exciting year.  I am really looking forward to this school year.  My name is Mrs. Susan Boeckle (pronounced Beck-lee), and I will the K-4 basic skills and gifted & talented teacher for the 2021-22 school year.  This is my thirtieth year at Upper Pittsgrove.  I have taught seventh grade, first grade, fifth/sixth grade science, fourth grade, and now hold my current position in basic skills/GT.  I graduated in 1992 from Elizabethtown College with a dual certification in early childhood and elementary education.  I reside in the township with my husband, Fred, my twenty-four-year-old son, Jimmy, and my twenty-one-year-old daughter, Emma, both of whom graduated from Woodstown High School.

With the dawn of a new school year upon us, I think of all of the wonderful things your child has to look forward to.  Although there will be struggles as well as triumphs along the way, I will do my best to set high standards and help each student meet these goals individually.  My mission as a teacher is to show my students that hard work pays off.  By giving the children the best part of me, they will leave my room saying, “I can do it!”  In return, I expect the best part of my students and parents, working together for the common goal.  If we work together, everyone will win!

From my previous experience in so many grades, I see the importance of good work habits and organization skills.  This will prevail in my classroom.  Many of my basic skills students will be using an interactive notebook this year to show progress as well as assist in reviewing previous work.  As for the curriculum, there are a variety of benchmarks that students will be expected to reach as well as content to be covered.  I will use the information from the iReady scores to establish the skills each student needs to work on individually.  The gifted and talented program will focus on a theme but students will guide the direction of the theme.

If there are any special circumstances I should know about as your child’s teacher, please let me know as soon as possible.  There are many things in a child’s life that influence his/her school work, and if there is any way I can be more sensitive and help any student through a difficult time, I want to do that.  Also, please let me know if your child has any food allergies or if there are any special medical needs, including excessive use of the bathroom.

I will provide all supplies needed in my calssroom, so no additional supplies will need to be sent in for me.

I will do my best to keep everyone informed of things that are going on in the classroom.  If you need to get in touch with me, the best way is through my school email which is [email protected]. This is checked frequently.  I am very consistent about answering emails, and it is really the easiest way to get in touch with me.

Remember, it means a lot to a child to be able to talk about his/her school experiences with the family.  Communication is essential to success.  Here’s wishing everyone a great year!
