 September 8, 2023

Dear West New York Middle School Parents/Students,

I hope you are having an amazing summer and are beginning to look forward to the start of a new school year. We have really missed you this summer, and are ready for you to come back on Friday, September 08, 2023 for the first day of school.

I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome to the West New York Middle School. My name is Mr. Awadallah and I am one of the Assistant Principals at the Middle School.  I graduated with a degree in Physical Education from William Paterson University, and I am also certified in Health and Drivers Education. I also recieved my Masters degree from Saint Peter's University in Educational Leadership.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as an Assistant Principal is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it.

At The West New York Middle School we recognize that middle school is a time when students begin to take on more responsibilities and to make increasingly important choices about their own behavior and academics.  We know that children need guidance and experience to make wise choices. Students make mistakes, and we allow for that, encouraging them to LEARN from their mistakes.

Our discipline system works on a scale that increases consequences each time a student is sent into the office by a staff member.  Consequences move from a contract, to lunch detentions, and, as a last resort, home suspensions.  A student, for minor and medium offenses, receives at least ten consequences before being brought to a district disciplinary hearing.

Please call me any time if you have questions about your student’s disciplinary procedures.  We want to work with parents as a team for maximum student success!

I am really looking forward to another fun–filled and educational year!

If you need have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,

Mr. Awadallah
