10th Grade Health - MyPlate Assignment 

 

MyPlate illustrates the five food groups that are the building blocks for a healty diet using a familiar image - a place setting for a meal. It has recently replaced the MyPyramid Plan.

 

 

When completing this project, be sure to include ALL the food groups in your paper (fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, dairy) Provide the following information for each: 

 

1) Name the food group and list 5 foods from this catoegory

2) The daily recommendations for a person your age 

3) What counts as a cup/serving 

4) Health benefits found from these types of foods

5) 2 Tips to help you eat the foods in this group 

 

 

With the MyPlate plan, "OILS", has been taken out. Briefly describe the following:

 

1) Why have oils been taken out of the plan?

2) What are oils? List 5 food sources under this category.

3) Why is it important to consume Oils?

4) The daily recommended allowance for a person your age
