Mr. Tomasino: PE Syllabus
Welcome to the 2021 school year. You will continue to have 3 marking periods of PE and 1 marking period of Health. If the marking period is PE you will be learning PE topics and if it is Health you will be learning Health Topics. Below is an overview of resources, rules, procedures, grading, and contact info. I look forward to having you all in class and getting to know each and every one of you.
General Guidelines

You will be held “Accountable” for your actions (both good and bad)

Effort based

Weekly calls home (attendance, behavior, grades etc…)

Come to class on time (attendance will be taken during every class)

All assignments will have a due date (you will be able to hand in or make up assignments at later dates but they will be marked at a lower grade)

Proper language is to be used (I cannot control how you speak outside of my class, but you must learn to control and monitor your language in my class. Remember if you can use it in my class then I can repeat it word for word to your parents on a phone call)

If you need extra help whether it be with something to do with our class or just something in general I am here to help. Please schedule an appointment with me.
Classroom Rules

Students will need to be dressed in proper gym clothes and footware in order to participate in class.

If students are not prepared for gym they will need to do a written assignment to earn back points.

Studesnts are to use proper language.

Students are to lock up their belongings in the locker room.
-
It is the students responsiblity to make up any missing assignments.
Procedures

Students will enter gym and report to their floorspots.
-
Attendance will be taken and then students will report to the locker room to get changed for class.
- Students will have 5 minutes to change and then warmups and exercises will begin.

The teacher will provide an overview of the class and begin to teach the topic of the day and ask higher order thinking questions

Students will participate in drills and skills of the day.
- Students will then transition into gameplay.

At end of class equipment will be collected and closure questions will be asked by teacher

Students will report back to the locker room to get changed.

Grading Policies

Participation (classwork and attendance): 60% Skills Test: 40%
- For every 4 absences from class there will be a drop in letter grade.

Extra credit can be earned
-
If positive behavior and effort are demonstrated your lowest classwork grade and test grade will be dropped. This is earned not given.
