FOR STUDENTS:
Hello friends!
I am excited to start school with you in September! We will do so many fun activities together this school year. I wanted to tell you a little bit about me before we meet each other.
I have been teaching at Van Holten for 17 years, so I know my way around the school. I can’t wait for you to see our classroom! I also really like the art room, which is right across the hall from us. Is there a room in the school you are interested in seeing?
Even though I work at Van Holten, I was at Milltown School this summer. Were you there? If you were, I hope you had fun with your teachers and friends.
When the extended school year at Milltown School was over, I was able to spend time doing things I really enjoy. I hope you were able to participate in activities you like.
I really like going to the beach. I was lucky and got to spend time at the Jersey Shore and the beach in Florida. I was able to drive my car to the Jersey Shore. To go to Florida, I had to take an airplane and stay in a hotel for a few days. I sat on the beach and went swimming in the ocean in both places.
I liked being outside as much as I could be. Some things I did outside in August were going running and to the pool. I would run outside in the mornings before it got really sunny and hot. I made sure to drink lots of water when I was running. When it was hotter out, I would go swimming in the pool to cool down. I like floating on a raft but I can go underwater in the deep end too! I can’t wait to hear what you did outside this summer.
When I was trying to relax from all my outdoor activities, I would read books. Did you know that you can read the words in books or listen to a story? You can also look at the pictures in books. I did all three this summer! Sometimes I would read, sometimes I would listen to an audiobook, and other times I would look at the illustrations in books!
I can’t wait to hear what you did this summer. On the first day of school, bring in 2 photos or objects that show your classmates what you did this summer. I’ll make sure to bring mine to share too so you can see.
We are going to have a great school year together. I will see you on September 6th for our first day of school!
Your teacher,
Mrs. Case
