Dear Student,
Welcome! I am very happy to have you in our class. Together we will have a fun and exciting year! This will be my 30th year teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed my first twenty nine years at Vets. Middle and I know this year will be even better! I’m sure you’re a little nervous about starting middle school, so I thought I would give you a little background about myself so you can get to know me.
I was born and raised in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, which is near Sandy Hook beach, and Twinlights Lighthouse. My mom, my 2 sisters and their families still live in Atlantic Highlands. I went to Henry Hudson Regional High School and Trenton State College, which is now called The College of New Jersey. I always enjoyed going to school, so I try to remember that and keep school fun for my students.
I have lived in Brick for the past 23 years with my husband, Mr. Caruso. He is also a teacher at Vets. Middle and is the Varsity Girls’ Soccer coach at Brick Memorial. We have a son, Billy, who is almost 22 years old and is finishing his student teaching in the Fall while attending Kean University. We have twin daughters, Lexi and Mia, who will be 20 years old at the end of this month. They will be juniors at TCNJ and Stockton University. The girls both play soccer for their colleges. so fall is always our busy time! We have a rescue dog from Mississippi. We named her Molly and she's 7years old now! I can't wait to show you lots of pictures! She's so lovey and adorable and I'm a little obsessed with her, LOL.
When I do get some free time, I enjoy sitting by my pool, reading a good book, listening to some tunes by the "BOSS", or just spending time with my husband and kids. I also love the outdoors and watching sporting events, especially soccer and baseball. Since my husband is a soccer coach, I spend a lot of time on the soccer field. In addition, my kids play have played baseball, soccer, and basketball, so I always run into a lot of students on the fields or courts. We are big supporters of all Brick Memorial Sports. I am also a BIG Yankee fan. I love watching their games.
Of all my favorite things to do, I love my job the most. I felt truly honored years ago when I was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2003. Teaching is what I was born to do and I love every minute of it. I hope you will have as much fun as I do! My goal is to make your sixth grade year enjoyable and exciting. There will be lots of learning and smiling going on in C5.
Your teacher,
Mrs. Caruso
