Math-We will be working on 1- digit Addition and 1-digit subtraction our first few lessons.

 

 Literacy-In Reading sotires that have to do with Communities. (School, Classroom, Our Neighborhood and our Town). We are also working on our comprehension skills, story structure,  vocabulary, main ideas,  and supporting details.

 Writers Workshop- We are working on a classroom newsletter for Trimester 1 and Narrative Stories.

 

 TECHNOLOGY-The children will become very familiar with all areas of technology.

THEY WILL BE WORKING IN i-Ready Math Path and i--READY MAGNIETIC LITERACY and I-ready Reading Path

 

Science-We will be learning by doing many lab activities throughout the year.  We are learning about Earth Systems.

 

Social Studies-THE 2ND GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM  is based upon FIVE (5) UNITS: 

 1) Government and Democracy, 2) Historical Thinking, 3) Geography, 4) Cultures and 5) Economics.

We learn about our Community, diffent holiday customs, and the Election Process.

 

Social Studies/Science/Reading-Stem Projects all year long. 

 

September-The first Monday in September is Labor Day, a special time for celebrating people who work to make our country a better place.

Sept 15-Oct-15 National Hispanic Month Activities

Sept 17-We will learn about Constitution Day  on September 17 and saw how many Delegates signed the Constitution and what state they were from. 

Sept 21-We will learn about International Peace Day on September 21.  We will talk about peaceful nature scenes and they will illustrate and write  synonyms for Peace on their Peace Signs.
