Math-We will be working on 3- digit Addition and 3-digit subtraction and 2-step Word Problems and adding three and four 2-digit numbers. THEN ONTO OUR METRIC MEASUREMENT CHAPTER 

 

 Literacy-In Reading We are Reading Fables and Folktales. We are working on our comprehension skills, story structure,  vocabulary, main ideas,  and supporting details.

Grammar-Contractions and Conjuctions

Feb/March-Our Class Project for Unit 4 is a Mural.  Theme:  National Parks

 

In Phonics-

Read and write words with; contractions-not

 Writers Workshop- We are working on Narrative Stories.

 

 TECHNOLOGY-The children will become very familiar with all areas of technology.

THEY WILL BE WORKING IN i-Ready Math Path and i--READY MAGNIETIC LITERACY and I-ready Reading Path from January through June.

 

Science-We will be learning by doing many lab activities throughout the year.  We are learning about Earth Systems.

 

Social Studies-THE 2ND GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM  is based upon FIVE (5) UNITS: 

 1) Government and Democracy, 2) Historical Thinking, 3) Geography, 4) Cultures and 5) Economics.

We learn about our Community, diffent holiday customs, and the Election Process.

DECEMBER-We did a European Holiday Customs Unit on Italy, Germany, France, Spain/Mexico. The children learned nad took notes on the traditions, make decotrations for our Europen Holiday Custom Tree and Made  Desserts from the Counties we learned about. Parets were in helping on projects.

 

NOVEMBER-WE  DID ACTIVITES FOR ELECTION DAY 

WE DID VETERANS DAY ACTIVITES AND MADE THANK YOU CARDS FOR OUR VETERANS.

I  DELIVERED THEM TO THE AMERICAN LEGION AND THE COMMANDER WAS VERY APPRECIATIVE THAT SECOND GRADERS WOULD MAKE THEM CARDS.

 

October-/Columbus Day Activities and we made Thank YOU cards for the fireman Thanking them for their Serevice and I delivered them to the Fire House on Midstreams Road and Jordan Rd.

 

Sept 15-Oct-15 National Hispanic Month Activites

Sept-We will learn about  about Constitution Day  on September 17 and saw how many Delegates signed the Constitution and what state they were from. 

 

September 11-Patriots Day-

We will learn about International Peace Day on September 21.  Then we talked about  peaceful nature scenes and they illustrated and wrote  synonyms for Peace on their Peace Signs.
