October in Room 13!
Happy October! We have lots of exciting learning ahead this month in first grde.The students have been working so hard and are doing a wonderful job learning our clasroom routines and growing as readers, writers, mathematicians and friends.
In literacy, we will continue building our reading skills through phonics, high frequency words, spelling and comprehension. We will practice new vowels sounds and working on becoming more confident, fluent readers.
In writing, we will continue developing our ideas and learning how to put our thoughts into complete sentences and organizing writing.
In math, we will continue building our numbers sence and problem solving skills working with addition and subtraction strategies.
In our classroom will will continue practicing teamwork, responsibility, kindness, and making good choices. Our nautical theme reminds ys that we are "Anchors Away to Awesome"
Thank you for your continued support at home! Please continue to read with your child each night, practice spelling and reading their super words, and encourage to hare what they are learning at school.
I am excited for all the learning and fun October will bring!
