Physical Education

Philosophy

It is possible for every student to experience success in physical education regardless of present fitness level, coordination, or body type.  The achievement of fitness, good motor coordination and a positive attitude for physical activity are the primary goals of our program. Physical Education is an instructional subject required by the state of New Jersey and the Brick Township School District.  All students are required to take PE in grades 6, 7 and 8. The required PE framework includes skill development, biomechanics, health and physiology, fitness, sociology and historical perspective.

Health Education

Philosophy

To  steer  youth  toward  making  sound,  rational  decisions  by  creating  a  learning experience that provides them with a message of reality and helps them to make positive, informed choices.

Parameters of health lessons and activities:

  • Better understanding about consequences of negative choices
  • Thought provoking lessons about the lasting effects of poor decisions
  • Real-life examples of consequences and poor choices

I deliver a message that will help students:

  • Question their assumptions about common, real-life scenarios and topics
  • Analyze the social norms of the peers around them
  • Develop a self-paradigm to live by rather than the social mirror so many of them use to gauge their direction
  • Learn to rationally and intelligently make the right life choices

Dear Parents,

I arrive early to prepare resources to teach your child.

I stay late to mark work and get ready for your child.

I go home and think constantly about how best to help your child.

I often put your child before my own family's needs.

I work unpaid on weekends to prepare exciting and interesting materials so your child is engaged.

I listen, worry, care, want the best for your child.

Please treat me with respect :)
