MR. KRETSCHMAR                                            2025- 2026

Welcome to the new school year.  Most of the students call me Mr. K and I am your science teacher this year.  I look forward to a great year of learning.   Below are a few items that you should be familiar with.

Textbook:

Should be covered and brought to class as needed.

Supplies:

A three ring binder is required.  An organized and complete notebook is critical for student success.  I will check notebooks just about every week.  Everything from this class should be kept in the notebook and assignments should be recorded on the assignment sheet in the front.  Notebooks must be brought to class daily.

Grading:                                                                                          A = 90 to 100

Summative = Tests, quizzes and labs = 60%                                        B = 80 to 89

Formative = Homework, classwork and class participation = 40%         C = 70 to 79

                                                                                                         D = 60 to 69

                                                                                                         F = 50 to 59

Attendance:

It is vital that students attend class daily and arrive to class on time.  Two (2) tardies equal one absence.  Should a student be absent from school, a written statement from home is required within two (2) days of return from absence giving the date(s) and reason for the absence.  While students are expected to make up missed assignments, only students who have presented a written statement within two days shall be granted credit for assignments that are made up.  It will be the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher about making up assignments missed due to absence.

The following are acceptable reasons for absence as per the Board of Education: illness with a doctor’s note, a serious illness or death in the family, examination for drivers license or required appearance in court with documentation.

Any student exceeding ten (10) absences will be placed in no credit status for the course.

You are expected to be in class and be on time.
