Senior Seminar

About the class:

By participation in the Senior Seminar program, students will take part in a structured learning experience that extends beyond the classroom.  Through job shadowing/mentoring, research and reflection, students will gain an understanding of civics, citizenship and work skills.  Students participating in this program will be required to meet once a week (when intrning begins) with Mrs. Mustacchio to discuss experiences and hand-in required hour sheets.

Students are required to shadow a minimum of five hours per week at their mentoring site.  This applies to all students, even those involved with sports and extra curricular activities.  Many occupations require mentoring hours outside of school hours, and some may require evening hours.

Some occupations where students can be placed:

  • health fields (nursing/physician--may be placed at either physicians' offices or OMC*)
  • attorney's offices
  • law enforcement/police
  • physical therapy
  • veterinarian (must be 18 years old)
  • architecture
  • engineering
  • marketing/advertising
  • finance

  • accounting
  • dentistry
