Grading Policy: The BBOED has assigned the following category percentage weights
- Tests/Projects……....................60%
- Labs and Quizzes...............…...20%
- Homework ……........................10%
- Classwork................................10%
The passing grade, as noted by the BBOED, is 70; grades of 69 and below are considered failing.
Homework Policy:
Homework includes, but is not limited to, studying for tests and quizzes, completing a worksheet or workbook questions, a vocabulary assignment, as well as completing short-term and long-term projects. Homework assignments will be checked/collected and graded as follows:
- Handed in complete, correct, and on time √++ (100)
- Handed in complete, most correct, and on time √+ (85)
- Handed in complete, some correct, and on time √ (78)
- Handed in mostly complete, most correct, and on time √- (72)
- Handed in half complete, some correct, and on time √-- (67)
- Handed in blank or not handed in at all – Missing (MIS = 0)
- Points will be deducted for assignments that are turned in late!
Standardized Test Review:
Students taking Grade 8 Science will be taking the Grade 8 Science NJSLA. This assessment will cover everything learned in grade 6, 7, and 8 science. During the school year, all students will complete various sample NJSLA science questions to help them prepare for this assessment.
Classroom Expectations:
You are EXPECTED to:
- Come to class on time each day
- Come to class prepared each day (Workbook, Notebook, Something to write with)
- Be an active member of the class (Participate!)
- Complete all homework and classwork assignments
- Work with and respect all members of the learning community
