5th Grade Health Requirements & Topics
Student Health grades will be determined by the following 6 requirements on a 100 Point scale.
1.Following Directions/Behavior(10 pts) (10 Points)-->
- Raise your hand when you have something to say.
- Do not talk unless you are called on by the teacher.
- Be respectful!!!
2.Class Materials (10 Points)--> Each student is expected to bring the following 4 items to class weekly - (1) pen/pencil (2) folder or binder specifically for Health to each class meeting (3) personal agenda (4) lined paper to be kept in their folder/binder for notetaking and in-class assignments. Folder contents are to include lined paper and assignments. Personal agendas (given to them on the first day of school) are also to be brought to class to write down assignments, homework and important dates. The teacher may periodically check folders for organization.
3.Participation (20 Points)--> Being actively involved in class/group discussions and respecting the opinions, ideas and beliefs of fellow classmates. Students are expected to participate 1 or more times per class to receive full participation credit for the day. Credit will be given for any relevant comments made pertaining to the subject matter, answering a question or asking a critical thinking question about the respective topic.
4.Group Work/Activity (20 Points)--> ex. Jeopardy, Question Writing Game, Acrostic Project, Scenario Writing, Battle of the Genders.
5.In-Class Assignments (20 Points)--> Students will be given worksheets or written assignments throughout the year to be completed individually or in a group. Homework will be assigned for any work not completed during class time. If work is taken home, it is the students responsibility to submit their work to the teacher.
6. Quizzes (20 Points)--> Students will be assigned quarterly quizzes at the conclusion of each marking period.
*Students who are absent from Health class are strongly encouraged to copy the lesson notes located in the teacher's folder or borrow a friends to copy.
