COURSE OVERVIEW/DESCRIPTION

Introduction to Business Computer Applications (IBCA) is the first of two courses designed to provide students with basic computer application skills. Strong emphasis is placed in the areas of typing, hardware, software, and word processing and presentation applications.

Students will demonstrate and possess basic computer and internet skills to help students be successful in today’s digital world. Students will be introduced to the basics of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Students will:

 

  • create, format, and edit documents in Microsoft Word
  • create, format, and edit their own PowerPoint presentations
  • create, manipulate and edit spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel

 

The Microsoft Office Specialist Program that students will use to get certified provides industry-leading assessments of skills and knowledge through our new project-based testing, giving students and professionals real-world exercises to appraise their understanding of Microsoft Office.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Students will gain knowledge of Keyboarding Technique and improve their keyboarding speed and accuracy.
  • Students will gain knowledge of Computer Basics and Digital Literacy.
  • Students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Microsoft Word 2016 certification test.
