Rewards

This year our motto is Good, Better, Best… Never Let It Rest! Put Your BEST Foot Forward! To go along with our motto, students will have the opportunity to earn individual and class rewards for following the classroom rules and putting their best foot forward.

Individual Rewards- We will be using numbered foot cut-outs to keep track of our behavior. When a student is displaying positive “stand out” behavior, they will be asked to put their foot cut-out in a basket at the front of the room. At the end of the day, students having a foot in the basket will earn 1 point. I will keep track of these points and update students regularly. These points can be redeemed for rewards within our classroom every 2-3 weeks. (ex. no homework, fancy pen day, slipper day, etc).

Class Rewards- Students’ individual points will also be included in a cumulative class total. When the class as a whole earns 1,000 points, we will celebrate with a whole class reward.

(Ex. extra recess, dance party, craft day, etc)

Consequences

-Students displaying undesired behavior will first receive a verbal warning.

-If the negative behavior persists, students may have their foot removed from the basket (see Individual Rewards above) temporarily with the hope that they will work to earn their way back into the basket before the end of the day. If the class as a whole is displaying undesired behavior, points may be removed from the class total (see Class Rewards above).

-Students who continue to display undesired behavior will be spoken to privately to discuss their actions and possible remedies.

-They may also receive an email or call home, along with a written reflection. This reflection is to be completed by the student for homework and signed by the parent/guardian.

-Students that continue to behave negatively will visit with our principal, Mrs. Connolly, and/or our Dean of Students, Mrs. Licciardello.

Please note that certain behaviors may warrant an immediate removal from the classroom. Negative behavior may also result in lunch detention, loss of reward time, or other appropriate consequences as noted in the Student Code of Conduct.
