Summer 2024

Dear Friends and Families,

Welcome to Kindergarten! Before you read any further, enjoy the video above to start wondering more about your new school and the places we will learn and play both indoors and outside! We hope that the video will invite you to ask lots of questions about the year ahead. In our kindergarten class, we believe that learning is built on wonder and discovery. This year we will be using a special questioning technique that will guide us on our exploration. We invite you to take the first steps in this process with us by writing down each question that comes to mind on a sticky note. When you come to meet us for our Open House, please bring your sticky notes with you and place them on our Wonder Wall.

Your questions will guide us into our year together!

As we get to know each other, we also want to assure you that kindergarten is an amazing learning adventure for you and your familyl! We hope you love to read, draw, write, play games, use your imagination, sing, learn new things, and meet new friends. Kindergarten is full of these things, and so much more.

As you think about getting ready for school, we have one more job for you to do. Our classroom is a place for all of us to share. It is important that our WHOLE learning community is represented in our space together. Teachers, children, and families will be discovering the magic of kindergarten in so many new ways this year. In order to represent each family in our classroom space, please prepare a family picture (Nothing fancy, just a picture that represents you all! 4x6 or slightly smaller will work best for our project). When the opportunity arises, please send the photo in so that we can have it on display in the classroom. You may even have it ready to share with me when we get to meet each other before the start of the year.

As we build our community, and learn to navigate new routines, these photos serve as a reminder for the children of the many people that are supporting and caring for each other in countless ways.

We have been using Seesaw for the past nine years, and love it more every year! We will be sharing about Seesaw, and much more, at our Back to School Night in September. We hope you are ready for lots of new adventures - we have amazing discoveries ahead!
