Communication

Please check your child’s backpack EVERY day!  If there are any notices, flyers, or important papers, I will put them in a blue (AM class) or yellow (PM class) folder.  Please return the folder to me the next day you return to school.  (Folders are not sent home every day).

There are several ways we will be able to communicate with each other.

1. “Tell Me” BooksThis is the marble-style notebook that will go to and from school every day.  We will use it as an informal way to pass brief but important information to one another.  Please initial or sign next to any notes I write, so I know you have read the information.  Notes could be about a good job in class or a supply we might need.  Any information about a change in the pick-up or drop-off schedule; should be written in the ‘tell me’ book.  You might write about your child having a restless night or not eating much for breakfast, etc.  Please check these books every day, but we do not have to write in the ‘Tell Me’ books each day.

2. Telephone Please feel free to reach me by phone with any questions or concerns you might have.  If you call during school hours, your call will be forwarded to my voice mail and I will return your call the first free period I have available.  If there is an emergency or time-sensitive information, please follow the prompts to speak with the school office and any information will be relayed to me personally via the school secretary.  The phone number for Riverdale School is 973-839-1300.  My extension is 510.

3.  Email This is another good way to communicate with one another.  My email address is [email protected].  You can also access this information via the school website www. rpsnj.org and click on the staff tab.  Be careful about time-sensitive information in email as I do not get to check messages during class time.

4.Newsletter/Weekly Plan.  I will periodically send home a newsletter or flyer informing you of our unit of study or theme.  I will describe some of the skills we have been working on and/or describe activities we have been exploring.  I will also post the information on the preschool website.
