Dear Partners-in-Learning,
We love to celebrate birthdays! This year, the K-2 teachers are piloting a new way to celebrate birthdays. We are very excited to share this news with you!
Instead of sending in birthday treats/food, we invite you to donate a book to the classroom library. Here's how it works:
1.) A week before your child's birthday, your child's teacher will send home a birthday bag. Please purchase a new book, put it in the bag, and return it to school on the day of your child's birthday celebration.
2.) Your child will be given a chance to present the book to the class. In addition, your child can have a special guest reader (parent, grandparent, etc.) come into school to read the book to the class.
3.) A special bookplate will be placed in the book to commemorate this special day. All birthday books will be prominently displayed within the classroom library.
Books are a gift that every child in the class can enjoy again and again. Years down the road, it will be fun to look back and see who donated a book to the classroom library.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your support. It is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
The K-2 teachers
Mrs. Eschenbach
