GRADING POLICY:

55%                 Tests

30%                Quizzes

15%                 Class work and Homework

GRADING:

Every student is assessed using the following grading scale:
    A 93-100
    B 84-91
    C 76-83
    D 70-75
    F Below 70

HOMEWORK:

Homework is very important when learning mathematics.  Homework assignments (posted on my homepage) will be given daily and will often be graded. Grades will range from 10 to 100% indicating that you attempted all problems (work shown) and got most of them correct. 0 indicates you did not do your assignment, missed an assignment and did make it up, or made very little attempt.  Homework may be turned in one day late at 50% credit.  You must use pencil to get full credit.

TESTS AND QUIZZES:

Practice is essential in mathematics and will lead to successful performance on exams. Tests and quizzes are given throughout each unit studied. Approximately 3 tests and 5 quizzes will be given each marking period.  Most tests and quizzes are announces ahead of time.  The lowest quiz grade each marking period will be dropped.

ABSENTEES:

If a student is absent from class, it is his/her responsibility to see the teacher and make up the assignment. For each day missed you will have that many days to complete the assignment and/or make up tests or quizzes. For example, if you are absent on Monday (and it was excused), you see me on Tuesday and the assignment will be due on Wednesday or you will take your test or quiz on Wednesday.

PLAGERISM, CHEATING and ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

Plagiarism is the practice of copying words, sentences, images, or ideas for use in written or oral assessments without giving proper credit to the source. Cheating is defined as the giving or receiving of illegal help on anything that has been determined by the teacher to be an individual effort. Both are considered serious offenses and will significantly affect your course grade. Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct booklet for additional information.

Special Note: This course syllabus is subject to change at any point during the school year, if needed.

Sincerely,
