Mr. Boffa’s Classroom Rules and Expectations

Rules

1. Be respectful. Keep your hands feet and objects to yourself and don’t talk while the teacher or another student has the floor.

2. No cell phones. This is a school rule, and it will be strictly enforced in my classroom.

3. Wear your uniform. This is a district wide rule, and is no different here. Check the school website for any clarification of the dress code—www.pps-nj.us.

4. Follow classroom procedures. Math requires the ability to follow correct procedures. If you can follow the classroom procedures, then learning math will be much easier.

Positive Feedback

1. Verbal praise-A good thumbs up never hurt anyone.

2. Classroom preparation and participation points-You will be given 20 points a day. If you follow procedures, you keep your points!

3. Homework Passes-Top students will be awarded with a break from homework.

Consequences

  1. Verbal Warning
  2. Switch seats
  3. Parent phone call/Teacher detention
  4. Office referral

Procedures

  1. Enter the classroom on time and prepared with a pencil and materials. Sit in your assigned seat and look for the days procedures in the designated part of the room. If you are late, you may be locked out of the room and swept away by an administrator in the hallway.
  2. No passes will be given in the first and last ten minutes of the period. This is a school rule.
  3. Make wise and effective use of your time. Algebra is a challenge for many students because they do the bare minimum in class. Work from bell to bell and the odds of success will surge sky high!
  4. I dismiss the class. The bell does not dismiss the class. We will rehearse this until we get it right.
