Welcome to Mrs. Hinchcliffe's Learning Paradise! I am so excited to start the school year off and meet everyone. I am fortunate enough to teach you many things, such as reading, writing, and math and I know you will love to learn in our classroom paradise.
My classroom is located in room 120 in Public School #3, so please feel free to stop in any time. If you scroll down further, you will be taking a tour of our classroom and you will be able to see and read about our Star Student Prize Center, our classroom libary, our helpful hints center, our music center, our birthdays and tooth loss bulletin boards, our calendar, our student of the month center, and posters to brighten up anyones day. On top of visiting our classroom through our website, I will be providing a notebook that I will keep updated everyday on your child. For example, what they did well today, what they enjoyed, and what they might want to work on at home, in which I will provide extra worksheets stapled in the notebook for the child to work on. Feel free to write back to me in this notebook that I will check everday or e-mail me at [email protected].
Our Classroom Walking in to our classroom everyone knows they are a bright crayon. They will know that they are always welcomed.
Our calendar board is a place where the students and teacher come together to talk about the day. We will talk about the weather and special holidays and birthdays coming up in our classroom. Looking at the calendar, it helps students know that they are always a star, especially in Miss Weiningers classroom.
We will always celebrate birthdays and lost tooths in our classroom. For birthdays and lost teeth, the students get special certificates, pencils, stickers, and a special birthday hat to wear for the day. Their special day will be celebrated all day in our classroom. Especially for our little ones, loosing a tooth is a very exciting time.
Our classrooms word wall theme is "We Are Going To Have A Wild Year!" Students will be able to learn all their sight words, colors, spelling words, and vocabulary words. On the bottom of our bulletin board, on the desk, is where students will be able to borrow a classroom pencil and sharpen their own pencils with our classroom pencil sharpener.
Students will be able to access many supplies in our classroom, such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, highlighters, and rulers. Students will never be without supplies, but if they want to bring their own, they are more than welcome to. Students will also have access to our classroom duck that whenever they need something to hold or to help give them happy thoughts, they will open the duck and take something to hold for the duration of the class period.
Students will also have access to math manipulatives and reading/writing manipulatives that will help the students learn in the best way possible. They will always have tools to help make the learning process an easier one for them, such as clocks, white boards, highlights, geo shapes, base ten blocks, blocks, construction paper, and reading tools to help them focus on the sentence that they are reading.
Our classroom library is an inviting place where the students could sit on our rocking chair or our flower pillows to choose a book that they find most inviting. Students will also find a stuffed animal basket where if they choose to, they can read to a favorite stuffed animal in the bin that they know will always listen to them. Students will find books for all ages, whether it be picture books to chapter books, they will always find a book that they find interesting. They can also read under our classroom lamp!
Our prize center is the most rewarding place for the students. Each student will have a star on our star student board that if the student is caught doing something good, whether it would be helping a fellow student or working hard on an assignment or even completing homework, the student will get to put a star sticket on their star and if they reach up to fifteen to twenty stars, we will sing a song that goes "Congratulations to (name), Congratulations to (name), Congratulations to (name), you have won a prize." The student will be able to pick a prize out of the treasure chest. The students will then get a new star on our board and start again to win a prize.
