Mrs. Steele's Biography

Hi! My name is Kristi Steele.  I am one of the 2 art teachers at Burnt Hickory.  This is my 20th year teaching in Paulding County.  I graduated from Oglethorpe University in 1996 with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I recieved my Masters in Early Childhood Education in 2004 from The State University of West Georgia.  I just celebrated my 27th anniversary with my husband, James Steele.  We have two sons - Tripp and Jacob.  My oldest, Tripp, is a geography teacher at North Paulding High School.  My younger son, Jacob, is a junior at Kennesaw State University majoring in Construction Engineering.

I am so very excited to be the one of the art teachers at Burnt Hickory. I have loved to draw, paint, and work with clay since I was a young child.  I have taken numerous art classes at the college level, and am certified to teach art in grades K-12.  I also love working with children.  I want the children to develop a strong foundation in the arts, because I believe that art promotes creative thinking skills that the children can use in other school subjects and throughout life.   I love that I get to see the children imagine, explore, discover, and create every day as they work on their art projects!
