To Parents(s)/Guardians(s) and New Fourth Grade Student,

As a new school year approaches, I would like to take the time to introduce myself as your child’s fourth grade teacher.  I have been fortunate enough to be part of Bridgewater-Raritan School District for the past twenty - three years.  I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where I earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I live in Pennsylvania and have a 17 year old daughter named Krista and two dogs named Maxx and Riley. I would love to hear all about your summer, so if you have some time before the first day of school write me a letter and tell me about a special place you have visited or just tell me a little about yourself.  Then give me the letter on the first day of school, so I have a chance to learn more about you.

This will be an exciting year as we explore a variety of new activities while providing support and encouragement for one another.  Fourth grade will be a time for your child to continue both their academic and social growth.  It will be an opportunity to achieve goals, participate in cooperative learning and acquire real-life skills.  My goal is to help your
child become an active learner and to foster independence by guiding them towards developing strategies for decision-making and problem solving.

**Some supplies that will be helpful for your child to bring on the first day of school are:

(1) one subject notebook - any color or design
(1) laminated folder - any color or design

headphones in a plastic bag labeled with your child's name

independent reading book

water bottle

Other supplies such as calculators, crayons, rulers, glue, scissors, etc., will be available in our classroom however, feel free to bring your own if you so choose.

Please be reminded that the first day of school is a full day, so please provide your child with a healthy snack. Also, please reserve the evening of Thursday, September 26thas this will be the date of our Back-to-School Night.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to get an overview of the curriculum, and become familiar with expectations for your child.

It is with great enthusiasm that I look forward to joining you in creating a rich and stimulating fourth grade experience for us all. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Danielle Powell
