Course Overview and Requirements
Driver Education classes will be taught in a block of time; i.e., Monday through Friday for one Marking Period.
The New Jersey Driver Manual and “Responsible Driving” text will be the text books for this class. Course material will outline and supplement information in the texts. In addition, we will be utilizing SIMURIDE as are multi-media driving course, to supplement class instruction and activities. Class activities will also include guest speakers, audio-video presentation, and group projects.
Grading – Grades will be earned according to the following criteria, averaging all tests, quizzes, homework, in-class assignments and class participation.
40 % Tests
10 %Quizzes
10 % Homework
10 %Class work
10 %Notebook (Portfolio)
10 %Class participation / Preparation
10 % Final Exam
Homework – Homework is to be completed and with the student upon arriving to class.
Make Up Work – Homework, in class assignments, tests, quizzes and projects.
It is the student’s responsibility to ask for all make up work. The time policy for make up is:
1 day absent = 1 day for make up.
2 days absent = 2 days for make up, etc.
Behavior - It will be expected that the teacher will be able to conduct classes in an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. A grade of “0” will be given to anyone disrupting the atmosphere.
Class Preparation – It will be expected that each student will come to class with his/her Driver Education textbooks, notebook, and pen/pencil. A grade of “0” will be given to anyone who is not prepared for class.
