Hello Pleasantville Middle School,
My name is Renee Irwin, and I am happy to be a Teacher of English Language Arts. I am a wife and mother of two beautiful young adults, ages 18 and 22. I help my husband run a small Plumbing and HVAC business that we started in 2003. I love to read, do yard work, work out at the gym, watch spend time with my children, and work with school-aged children as an educator.
I got my start in education right here in Pleasantville in 1997 as a High School Language Arts Literacy teacher for the Alternative School, where I worked for seven years before leaving to pursue my administrative career. As the Language Arts teacher for the Alternative School, I taught ninth through twelfth grade English Language Arts. While giving everything I had to my students, I began working on my administrator’s certificate with the sole purpose of helping the students of Pleasantville. Unfortunately, a position was not available upon completion of my coursework, so I took an administrative position out of the district, where I had invaluable training. I was still raising two very small children at the time, and made the decision to return to the classroom to be able to devote more time to my family.
In February of 2007, I returned to the Middle School of Pleasantville as a Language Arts teacher, as my passion for teaching was with the children here. I worked at the Middle School for the past ten years, and am beginning my eleventh year this year at PHS. My time as a teacher at the Middle School was wonderful, and I come to you with a great deal of teaching and administrative experience and a zeal for education. The students really are my number one concern!! In addition, I am a team player who works diligently and passionately to help anyone achieve success.
Lastly, I believe in open and honest communication; without communication, there is no development, and there is no progress. Moreover, I have an open-door policy for students and parents alike. If you have concerns, questions, need guidance in educating our youth, I am available. I’m sure you will find me an asset to the PHS team. I look forward to working with everyone.
In Service to Children,
Mrs. Renee Irwin
