The school has asked if third graders send in "Beach Themed" items for a basket for the Ye Greate Street auction. Any donations would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support.
In math we are beginning FRACTIONS. So far, the students seem to be picking it up well. In Language Arts we are reading for detail and finding exact answers to questions and working on answering open ended questions with complete, well-written answers. Gone are the days of "one word answers". We are finding many students are learning and growing very well now. We've seen maturity and accountability with many of our third graders. We have days where the children want to "rush" through work or don't read carefully or pay attention during lessons. This causes careless mistakes and not reaching full potential.
Please keep encouraging your children to read, read, read! The more a child reads for enjoyment the better reader AND writer they will become. The more exposure children get to reading material the better they will overcome reversals and reading difficulties.
Some weeks we will work on spelling words, and other weeks we will be focusing on building words and creating words from word parts in centers in class.
