Welcome to First Grade!
I hope you and your family are having an enjoyable summer. I am so excited that you are in my class this year! We are going to have a terrific year filled with rewarding learning experiences and lots of fun too!
On the first day of school, we will be playing fun games to get acquainted with each other and getting to know our school and our classroom! I am looking forward to getting to know your child and their classmates.
We have a new schedule this school year. It will be a full school day from 9:20 AM–3:40 PM. However, doors will open at 8:50 AM for students to enter the building, and dismissal will begin at 3:30 PM. I will send home a copy of our daily classroom schedule on the first day of school so you can see what our day in first grade will look like!
We will have a working snack time every day beginning on the first day of school. It is important that students bring a healthy snack that they are able to eat quickly and independently. If you are able to supply extra snacks for our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated, as students often forget their snacks. Students may also keep a reusable water bottle in the classroom!
Please note the Adamsville School policy regarding birthday celebrations. Food may no longer be brought into school to celebrate birthdays. The policy can be found in the Adamsville Student Handbook.
Please also make sure that we know about your plans for dismissal via a written note or email if your child is not riding the bus. If your child is a bus rider, they must go home on the bus unless you send in a note to change the dismissal procedure. Your note should include your child's last name and my name so that it can be submitted to the office.
Please send in a pair of headphones for your child to keep at school for the year!
Below is a list of optional school supplies that you can purchase to be used at school. Again, please note that these are suggested materials/supplies only. I have homework folders for each student, so you do not need to purchase one! :)
- Soft tissues
- 24-pack of pencils
- Elmer's glue sticks
- Crayola crayons
- Multicultural crayons
- Pencil erasers
- EXPO markers (low odor)
- Ziploc bags (assorted sizes)
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th, and I can't wait!!! Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. I am looking forward to meeting you and working together for a successful school year!
